In the past 25 years, MECA has worked with dozens of community groups.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIn 1988, the Middle East Children’s Alliance built a dental clinic in Dheisheh Refugee Camp in the West Bank, at the request of community leaders. In 1999, 2003, and 2005 MECA brought Dheisheh’s youth dance troupe to the US. Proceeds from these dance tours helped to fund a computer center, a women and children’s center, an audio media center, a guesthouse, and the first playground in Dheisheh Camp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIn 2010, MECA began working with the Madaa Center in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan. Although Israel police regularly arrest children and adults, and hundreds of homes are destroyed or taken over, the people of Silwan are determined to hold onto their land. MECA helped Madaa build a sports field and a cultural café, which Israeli bulldozers demolished in 2012. MECA raised funds for Madaa to rebuild the café by purchasing a converted home for Madaa activities. The purchases and construction are part of the Silwan community’s strategy to create its own “facts on the ground” and of MECA’s “The Right to Play” project.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eSince 2006, MECA has helped to provide psychological support, and sports and arts activities for children in Nuseirate Refugee Camp and throughout Gaza. Over the years, Jos has designed and printed thousands of posters and tee-shirts for hundreds of progressive causes, while at the same time maintaining a steady output of art which address issues and ideas which concern him.  In 2010 the Library of Congress acquired 487 prints from Sances which represented a broad overview of his thirty years of printmaking.  Before Alliance Graphics, he co-founded Mission Grafica at the Mission Cultural Center in 1980 and worked there until 1988.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDuring the past 15 years Mural and Public Art has been Jos's passion.  He has painted murals at the Oakland Coliseum and tile mural commissions at the new Juvenile Justice Center in San Leandro, CA; AMTRAK\/BART Station, Richmond, CA; and the Sixteenth Street BART station in San Francisco.  Two tile murals were completed in 2009 at the new Library in Castro Valley and Arnett Watson Apartments in San Francisco.  In 2010 with Daniel Galvez, Jos completed a huge 7,000 sq. ft. mural for a new Recreation Center at Ira Jenkins Park in Oakland.  Currently Sances is working on a commission for Skyline College in San Bruno, CA.
