Canaan Fair Trade
Founded by Dr. Nasser Abufarha, Canaan is a certified fair-trade, regenerative organic food cooperative that brings the rich flavors of Palestine from family farms to your home. Abufarha grew up in Jenin, Palestine, attending to the centuries-old olive trees and farmland. It was here that he developed a passion for agriculture, but it wasn’t until he moved to the U.S. and earned a doctorate in anthropology that he was inspired to start Canaan Fair Trade.

Canaan partners with over 2,400 artisan family farms across 52 villages in Palestine to produce these delicious products that you see today. As a fair-trade cooperative, they ensure transparency, direct payments, and fair prices to all of their partners. By using regenerative practices, they honor Palestinian traditions by nurturing healthy soil, plants, animals, and microorganisms. Canaan is dedicated to investing in local Palestinian communities and economies to not only to preserve Palestine’s agricultural legacy but ensure its ability to thrive for generations to come.
