This glazed clay incense burner, also known as a mabkhara in the Arab world, has an old world charm with it’s hand tooled cut out design. Incense has been used in spiritual practice as well as a symbol of hospitality for centuries. Place a candle inside and some incense (bakhour) on top. Also works as a candle holder.

The Ceramic Laboratory in the small Palestinian village of Nisf Jubeil is part of the Mosaic Centre Jericho network. It is located in a beautifully restored traditional building (complete with guest house), just at the edge of the village in a green and hilly countryside. The laboratory aims at reviving the traditional pottery and ceramic handicraft in Palestine through training and education.
