Threads of Hope / Samidoun
Threads of Hope, Smaidoun in Arabic, is a small Fair Trade embroidery business founded by Mahera Nassar Ghareeb in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem. As a women-led social enterprise, Threads of Hope gives job opportunities to women, offering them a fair wage enabling them to help support their families during this exceptionally difficult time.
Designing beautiful Palestinian tatreez products using only locally sourced and produced materials, the embroidery is hand stitched in Bethlehem and then sent to seamstresses, tailors and leathersmiths in Bethlehem and Hebron to be assembled and finished. All clothing items such as t-shirts, hoodies and dresses are made in a small factory in Beit Jala, Palestine and then hand embroidered in Bethlehem.
