Olive Wood Shoe Horn

Hand crafted olive wood shoe horn. Shoe horns may seem old fashioned but once you’ve tried them you realize how handy they can be in helping to smoothly slip your shoes on. Shoe horns also help preserve the back heel area of your shoes.

A valuable wood species, olive wood is harvested from branches of olive trees that have been pruned at the completion of olive-picking season. It takes a six-step process and 45 days for a piece of wood to become a beautiful piece of art. Skilled craftspeople spend six to seven years in training in order to become professional craftspeople.

The Holy Land Handicraft Cooperative, a certified fair-trade cooperative, founded in 1981 and based in Beit Sahour near Bethlehem, is working to alleviate poverty and assist artisans in the marketing of products.
