With Israel’s continuous attempts to erase Palestinian identity, the Palestinian flag, with its Pan Arab color scheme, serves as an important emblem of Palestinian unity, resistance, existence and statehood. While not technically illegal to display, the Israeli authorities routinely confiscate the Palestinian flag as yet another form of erasure, silencing of dissent and cracking down on Palestinian civil society. Flag Day is celebrated in Palestine every September 30th.
