These fun yoga mat straps are made from traditional Saya fabric from Syria. 

These fun yoga mat straps are designed by Sarab, the founder of Simply Sarab, and are handmade by the talented and industrious women at the Women’s Program Center at the Al Amari refugee Camp near Ramallah. The stunning material used for these is a traditional fabric from Syria called “Saya.” Historically used in Palestine and Syria for making clothing, it’s also used for making everything from dresses and purses to table runners and yoga straps. 

With style and a hint of Arab heritage, these straps hold your yoga mat securely with just the right amount of shoulder strap to carry it comfortably under your arm. Adjustable to fit all yoga mats. 

The Women’s Program Center, established in 1993 at Amari Refugee Camp near Ramallah, aims to develop the social, cultural, and professional capacities of women. The Center offers vocational training courses, free medical consultations, fitness activities, kindergarten, and income-generation activities. 

The Camp is home to more than 10,000 people, refugees from pre 1948 Palestine  and their descendants who were forcibly displaced from central Palestine, including cities of Lydd, Ramla, and Jaffa. After four generations in exile, the densely populated camp of today struggles with overcrowding, poor infrastructure, poverty and unemployment.
