A rectangular scarf from Gaza, called "flower and stalk". Dimensions: approximately: 67" X 16"
Most embroidery imported by MECA is from Gaza, where artists work under incredibly difficult conditions.
Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery (tatriz in Arabic) is a beautiful example of Palestinian handicraft. Historically, this work was typically produced by village and Bedouin women in a wide variety of styles. Palestinian women express their creativity, culture, and sense of regional identity through this rich artistic tradition, characterized by elaborate patterns and vibrant colors.
Sulafa Embroidery Center supports approximately 250 local artisans in Gaza by commissioning traditional and contemporary embroidered goods.
