Evoking images of the Mediterranean Sea represented by waves of flowers, we are happy to be able to offer this unusual and last-of-its-kind scarf handmade in Gaza.
Intricately embellished with small light blue flowers on one end and slightly darker blue flowers on the other, this double sided scarf, despite looking machine made, is actually hand embroidered with the Madani (satin stitch) tatreez technique. Madani tatreez is usually associated with villages in the West Bank and is known for being difficult, time consuming and for the embroidery looking equally beautiful on both sides.
Sulafa
Sulafa Embroidery Centre in Gaza is a project that provided livelihoods for women in Gaza's refugee camps prior to 2023. Because of the ongoing genocide, Sulafa is, sadly, no longer operational.
